It's not lead - to hard.
It's not copper or brass - color isn't right.

Dimensions.: Long 93mm, Wide 54mm, Thick 16mm.
Sorry about the millimeters, inches ain't my measure. ::) ;D
"Stone" is quiet heavy, 0.226 kilogram, sorry again... ::) ;D

That's pretty neat looking. I like the color. Where and how was it found? Is it magnetic? Is there more rocks like it in the are in which it was found? I have no clue what it may be, but I am curious what others may have to say about it.

I forgot to write it, Tabfry... ::)

It's not magnetic, was found on a farmer's field.
So, it's hard to find another one in there. ;D

Here's the conversions. I think they are right.

3.66" Length
2.13" Width
.63" Thick

.59 Lb. in weight

The rock looks volcanic

I found it with my MD, it gives beautifull sound for a coin.

Now, time in Poland is 0:40am, tomorrow I'll add pictures of "How my MD sees it", OK? ???
Gotta go to work, sometimes. (from Monday to Friday) ;D
Besides, it's dark anyway (in Poland).
Good night, everybody. :D

HOLA MATEJKO: Short of an analytical assay or a professional guess by our resident B&B geologist Judy, you might try the following simple formulae for an ID. There are numerous field tests such as hardness, color of streak, fuseability etc etc. for example when you rub it against a piece of unglazed white tile what color does it leave? Meanwhile go to

go to posts # 11, 12, & 13.

Matejko, I have witnessed the events here as they unfolded, and believe me, nobody was talking about you or your rock. Shermanville and Capt. Z were having a private nonrelated discussion on your post. The two of them are fueding. ;D ;) and CapZ said he didn't mind being insulted by Sherman- is better than being boring. He was not talking to you. He addressed Shermanville. Now I happen to disagree that much of the entire TN site is fiction. That is not a nice thing to say Capt.
Back to the rock. Maybe something is inside. Can you break a small piece off and see if it beeps? Does it still beep on Disc. or all-metal?
I always enjoy your posts from Poland and keep them coming.
btw I don't know what a Barneyski stone is. Maybe a private joke. ???

Did that set off your detector? I get rocks on the beaches that set mine off all the time, and I have also found rocks containing silver inland. If it is setting off your MD, it probably contains iron.

What is a brand of your detector, DJ-Quinn ??
One of my friends has a Minelab explorer II. when he sets discrimination "on", iron sets his MD off.
When we are searching for coins on a field full of rubbish, I almost always got many more coins then he has.
I use White's Prizm V, my MD sees this rock as a nice cooper coin. - This is strange to me too, with this size of rock MD should see it as a nice 50 cents coin. Rock isn't small. ???
Look at the pics.

Someone from Polish forum who lives in Warsaw wants to take a look at it "live", he knows a lot about meteorites.
For now, he says that is too big, and the shape of it does not seem like a meteorite. But, never know....
After Easter I'll met this fellow, maybe then I'll get some info.

Pozdrawiam Matejko

Hi Poz,
It actually LOOKS like petrified wood. But none of my pieces of PW make a sound on my machine. Be sure and let us know when you find out more.

Might fetch quite a price on Ebay! Cool Rock. Any chance I can buy the other one from you? :-)
Sooner or later, I'll sell it. I don't collect rocks, but first I have to know what is it - for sure.
I have to feed my curiosity first. ;D

What do you mean by, "quiet a price on Ebay!". ??
I'm just curious, how much it might be worth. I know nothing at all, about rocks and stones... ::)

Hello!

You could search on eBay for "meteorite" and see that they come in all shapes but I do agree that this doesn't appear to be one. The texture looks more like earth weathering compared to melt/flow marks from coming through the atmoshere.

But it could be an odd stoney meteorite possibly. They do contain some metal.

Is a magnet even slightly attracted to this rock? Most will be drawn to a powerful enough magnet.
Meteorties are almost always dense and heavier than a normal rock.
If you have access to carbonium grinding wheel, grind a bit (not too much) on one of the ends. Most stoney type meteorites will contain metal silver colored flects that will show up when ground with this type of wheel.
Here's a good link too.
http://home.earthlink.net/~magellon/IDWEB.html

If you do sell it on eBay, do include "meteorite?" in your title. There are a lot of collectors there.

This is a cool rock anyway. Thanks for sharing it!
Good luck in your searching!
