strange stag head device...ID help needed

has anyone ever seen anything like this stag head peice. It came from am early homesite that has alot of colonial and CW stuff on it. Thanks James

In Germany it is an old tradition to do volksmarches from village to village. It is like a festival. Each village you pass through you get an emblem to put on your walking cane. Everybody uses the cane,young and old. The more emblems you have means the further you went which I guess means your the winner. I have a stags head that I found over there but it was somewhat modern.
A stags head is common for the canes.
