Strange Rock / Fossil / I don't know what / from San Antonio Region

This was found by my great grandfather 50 miles south of San Antonio, Texas about 100 years ago. It's been passed through my family and now it belongs to me. Any idea what on earth this thing is?

Okay so this thing appears to be rock of some kind, not really sure what kind exactly. It has strange "rivers" of what appear to be metal going through it, that seem to keep its shape but it's not magnetic. It's about the size of a brain, or an oddly shaped smaller cannon ball. Weighs about 10lbs or 4kg give or take. There are no insignias, writing, or anything else on it. Any kind of idea on what this could be would be great, i'm not sure if it's a fossil, a rock, or what.

Thank y'all.

Osage Express, after looking at some of the photos on google of septarian nodules, a lot of them seem to be really finely polished and look amazing. Is this something that I could have done with my septarian nodule? It also shows a lot of them have crystals on the inside (Calcite?).

Thanks! I will continue to google!

You might ask a rock shop if they know of someone that will polish it up for you. They are awesome rocks.Good luck with your quest ..Osage

Yes these are as has been ID'd but they are most likely not stable enough to polish.
They crumble easily.
Some found in the Dallas Tx. area contain fossil remains such as cephalopods among other specimens
like gastropods.
Put it under a black-light if the deposition where you found it are right it will glow "green" or perhaps "orange".
There is an area south of this area where the nodules found are of huge proportions some as large as a Volkswagen.
Some even containing ancient water.

Ancient 100m year old water! You should crack it open and bottle it and mix up the worlds most expensive drink!
