Today i went by my nephew house,it has been there for just over a hundred years.I only had about a half hour,so i hit the spot where there was supposed to have been a garden.Found whats left of this odd ring. Can anybody identify the symbol on it.Looks like a JE but not sure.Appears to have a gold or bronze coating on parts of it.Thanks for looking.

It might be Asian script :icon_scratch:

Wow...
try to find plat maps of that area as far back as you can, the owners name might be on the property listing...
Cool find!!!

I can see the J and the E, but it doesn't 'feel right' to me - but then again, I'm a motorcycle rider 8)
Another possibility might be

Ring JE.upside.jpg

I think Trikikiwi has it the right way up - Looks like Old English L to me and possibly even runes on the side and now's where it gets really interesting......

The second photo is the medieval runic alphabet - have a look at the Runic letter for K - is it just me or does it look like a series of runic K's on the side - an old Klan ring perhaps......or maybe I'm letting my imagination run away with me again. Could be flowers ;D

WOW!!
Thanks for all the tips. That's very interesting.I was told that maybe the little dimples on the sides could have been spots for stones or diamonds.Any ideas on that from all you ring experts out there.
Thanks for all the help so far.THANKS FOR LOOKING!

I like the ring. I often wonder how things were lost and usually ponder for a bit. Someone was most likely searching for a while looking for that ring. HH

if it was gold plated probably 1800's possibly a little earlier but I doubt it.

The first reply to this post suggested oriental, I believe. It is not oriental......I'll go with the styalized English.
Good find.

If you look at the letter "L" on that alphabet, it is the same as the ring..... That is a "L" on the ring. I hope you find something about the owner.

God bless
Peter

Maybe E, maybe H, sure is hard to tell. Probably L in Old English. Turn of the century gold plated ring.
