Older style mechanic automobile fuel pump.

Not older than me though.

Verbious is all over it.

This brings back a memory that may be a little fuzzy due to consumption of alcohol. As it goes, it was an engine overhaul with much fanfare: performance, cam, carb, headers, ignition, FUEL PUMP, and more. Well somehow, the rod that drives the fuel pump was "misplaced" as it were. Once assembly was compete, I could not wait to crank that starter over and hear the glorious sound of a Chevy 350 loping along through headers and dual exhaust. Instead, all I got was the starter turning the engine over. WTH!!! I thought. Low and behold, no fuel. It took me a minute (actually, I called it a night when I gave up on frustration) to troubleshoot the problem. I'm not 100% sure to this day why the rod that drives the fuel pump was sitting on the kitchen table, but as soon as I saw it I immediately knew why my engine was still peacefully snoring away in my engine bay.
