Has anyone seen or know what this thing might be? *
It's about 2 inches tall and (broken) 2 inches wide. *It looks like it was either hallow or could possibly *have been open in the back? *
I can see a metal "seam" on the side where perhaps two parts were joined together. *(see red arrow in photo)
I suspect it might be made of brass, but unfortunately, I don't know much about metal composition. It seems silvery but also has a golden and orangie hue. (that's not very helpful, sorry) *It looks like it might have been cast in a mold, because the face is highly detailed and the back is un-detailed and rough. *Also the seam. *There is a hole through the "ear" . *
It was found at a turn of the century "dump" site, *on the beach of a river, *at the base of a boulder where a lot of things wash up. *
I'm so curious. *I think it's really interesting, but also pretty creepy. *It terrifies my 10 year old son!
