STRANGE MADE HANDCUFF??

I found this on cw land and I think it is a handmade or blacksmith made handcuff,it has a small hole
on the side of it, I only found one that day. it is 2 inches wide and the hole opening is 3 inches wide.

I have no basis for this, only a guess, but couldn't it be part of some leg shackles? It looks as though it has a piece attached with a hole that could be the piece a chain attached it to another? If it was from a wagon wheel wouldn't it just be a cirular piece of iron? Again, just guessing-

it has a slight conical shape and no hinging

I think it was a complete circular piece - at one time. Not cuffs/shackles...

Probably a crimp band that went around a wood implement such as an ax, pick or the like.

Too funny- I went back and looked at the picture again and what I thought was a hinge/hole for an attachment was actually a thumbnail painted black holding the piece! I would have to now agree with the wagon wheel or similar such theory.
