I actually found this 6 weeks ago. I put it on top of a fence post and today I found that it had grown letters! Actually the rain washed away the mud to reveal the letters. My buddy said it might be old. It weighs maybe 5 lbs. and says “fed fry”. I also noticed when I chew on it my vision gets blurry... Buhahaha just kidding. I am seriously curious about this though. Any help is appreciated.

Fry's Metals is a solder manufacturing company Now know as Alpha Fry. Not sure about FED FRY or any previous association of Fry metals beside ALPHA. It does look white so it has been in the ground a long time

Ya never know. i always wonder when I detect a chunk of lead. Many years ago there was a local story that a guy's row boat anchor turned out to be silver.

Wow, my luck I would have got it hung up on a log. I’ve lost a more anchors than I care to admit.

Yeah it looks like it’s got a little age. Thanks for the info.

cool piece its old

These normally came in fours connected by the teats on the side so you could bend and break 'em apart and put one in the pot for melting. Yours does look like an early one. Cool find that I bet hollered out when you swung over it!

Oh yeah, the xp screamed over this thing. I don’t usually dig every signal so it musta just sounded odd to me, can’t recall.
