✅ SOLVED Strange helmet

Anyone recognize this helmet ? I picked it up at a gun show today for 20 bucks, I think it's a Knights of Pythias parade helmet but I'm not sure. It says something on the front badge but I can't make it out, I think it may be Latin, any guesses

Seems to be a British police helmet of some variety?

not 100% sure, but I believe it's a Victorian era British Cavalry helmet
