Hello y'all, Sometimes some strange things happen for some reason.Just wish i could figger it out so's maybe i could learn to channel it toward say some winning lottery numbers or to help me find the mother load ! I started out the year by finding a buckle in my brothers yard early this spring.Nothing great but kind of cool as it had a heart design on it so i threw it in the odd's and end's pile.Well today i decided to hit my favorite spot which is the site of a coloniel homestead and training grounds for the militia during the war of 1812.I have hit this spot hard over the years and very seldom even get a signal let alone find anything,so i wasn't expecting much more than fresh air and sunshine(IN DECEMBER!).Mostly i was there because i noticed a couple of things on a Tera server image that i wanted to check out( I'm going to post that later, see what y'all think)But anyhow there is a small hill in the hayfield there that i have always felt should have something there. It's high ground and would have been a good hill for kids to slide down etc.I have searched around it abit but usually find nothing but modern bullets.Today I started to walk toward the hill and was just kind of draggin the coil along as i went when i got a signal and dug i nice flat button.Walked to the top of the hill and got another signal and dug a buckle exactly like the one i found last spring !Ended the year just like i started go figger !Anyone know how old they may be ? Thanks all and best of luck next year !

maybe came from a little girls snow suit?? anyway, any day is great for swinging a coil!

Cool story! I love that the feeling ya get when you KNOW something is there, don't you! Congrats!

Those are two of the same Confederate Horse Harness buckle cover. I dug one like them earlier this Fall. Mine had complete hardware as well. They are valued at around 50bucks each in great shape with hardware intact.

Mis-ID'd as confederate. They had wide civilian usage, but still very cool items to find. They were in wide use from the 1850's to early 1900's in brass form, then were made out of tin into the 1920's.

Neat-O KS! Love them buckles~!

Nana :)

Wow thanks for the info all ! On closer inspection the one i found today is brass and the other looks to be tin.The tin one came from my brothers yard were he had graded it for a new driveway, next to a barn from the late 1800's to present and the other came from the colonial site.Maybe the detectin god's are tellin me that my find's are just goin to get better and older for the new year !HH all ! ;D

Great story! Always enjoy the odd coincidences that occur in our lives. Kinda wonder who or what is directing our travels through life. I know that whoever is directing me (be it God, Jesus, my beloved ancestors and/or parents) has a good sense of humor!!!!

Nice buckle. You could start a collection. You've got a good start already, since one is brass and one is tin. Happy 2007.

This is the 3'rd odd coincidence I've had at this spot !That's one of the reasons it's my favorite spot ! The first was when i found the "chicken colonel" buttons and this was the 3'rd.The second happened not long after the first.I was hunting here with my brother and not finding much so we quit and went home,When i got home i was looking at my redbook of coins and thinking i would love to find one of thouse small silver coins.I decided to go back and give it another try.I got there and thought to myself "ok Mom show me the silver !"I walked about 20 yards into the field and got a good signal,When i dug it up it was an 1806 1/2 real, the first and only silver found there. :o ;D

Your mom helped you. I am a believer in an afterlife connection, too many "coincidences" to think otherwise, IMO. Hope she continues to help you, and often.
