These were found at a site where I have found a Flat button and a shoe buckle in the past. Any clue as to the strange object would be helpful. Looks to be made from brass or bronze and it looks like a chain link
is connected to it. I added a mirror image of a possible second piece that is missing since it looks like it might have broke years ago. It feels like a handle to something. Like a hand bag ?

Door knocker piece maybe?

By design, it has to be a lifting or clamping device of some sort.

I agree with Creskol. I would add it might have been for something that gets hot. I think its something along the lines of an stove burner handle.

Early chain binder? Maybe a wire/fence stretcher, the point go's in a chain link or hole and the link connects to what ever it tightens then cam the handle over.

I’m guessing an old woodstove cast iron round hot plate remover. Some old kitchen wood stoves that had ovens in them would have 2 and up to 6 of these hot cast iron disks on top. You could take them off and refuel the stove with wood and or rolled newspapers.
