Earlier this evening I was trying to positively identify the circa 1850 suspender buckle I found last week with all the strange symbols (http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,185963.0.html) , so I did a Google image search for skeleton key symbols, which are on the lower tabs of the buckle. The first page of search results showed an image that stood out. It was identical to an object I had posted back in July, mistakenly calling it it a clock winder. I had no idea I had found a skeleton key. Unfortunately the teeth were missing. I tried to find another image like it, but that was the only one in pages and pages of search results. I thought this was a weird coincidence!

Here is the picture of both:

humm brotherhood (shaking hands) all seeing eye (god) --fox (a wize or slick creature) --- seems the suspender clip it might have a masonic type tone to it.

its amazing what you can find while doing research.i enjoy dating my finds almost as much as i do detecting

Nice neil,

I have the same exact key. Actually I found three of them the same day. They had old tags attached to them. They were i.d as hand cuff keys.
