Metal Detecting
I was in my backyard scanning for objects with my metal detector when it found something that registered as a coin of sorts and at one point as iron. it was a couple inches into the ground and had the shape of a coil except instead of being a spiral of metal its one large object with small slits in the side between the coil like bumps. When i shined a light on it to get a better look I noticed there was a large space underneath it with dirt on the other side. I didn't get a chance to dig up the full thing since i didn't have enough time but ill try finishing it tomorrow, but for now could anyone give me some ideas on what it could be?

Dimensions? Helps to put something of known size for reference. Coin, your coil, ruler, etc.

Could be a tractor top-link shock absorber/spring.

Besides than the shape thats as close to a coil as it gets. As far as i can tell its just one big object that has some small slits along the side in between the bumps. And as for size i wouldnt know anything about that as its still partially submerged in the ground but the bit of it that was visable in the pictures is about as big as a soda can.

its a french drain pipe...the slits allow water to leach out over a large area,or water to enter over its length and removed.prolly should leave it be...its there for a reason...hope it helps

After looking at some images of those pipes I think i can safely take your word for it, as disappointing as it may be. At least my friend is happy that he can say "I told you so" after insisting it was an electrical coil or a pipe. Ill be sure to avoid that area in the future, i only continued looking around there after finding a wheat penny.
