I was recently given a cannonball that I can't quite figure out. The ball has a lead plug but no fuse hole of any kind. There is a seam around the middle and it weighs 12.11 lbs. It's the same size as the confed. side-loader seen in photo.
Just looking for thoughts as to why a lead-plugged ball doesn't have a fuse hole.
Thanks, JB

De-fused...
This was a Prerequisite at one point... not sure if still is.

I have seen many a cannon touch filled with lead or solder.

It was done so it was "legal" to transport and sell.

Thanks ARC1, that makes perfect sense. It must have been done a while ago for the lead to turn white.
