It looks like the profile of a guy, facing right, wearing some sort of headdress maybe? Looks like maybe a feather hanging down over the ear. Native American?

Thanks for the opinions. Yeah, it's definitely a face. The funny thing about it is that the face is off center and the back does look like it has a hook on it. It's about the size of a dime. It came from deep woods near Pontiac, MI - with a rich native american history. However, I'm not sure it is that old.

It's a late Victorian picture button. Looks like a Greek or Egyptian bust. It would be older if the back was made out of brass and back marked. I don't have your exact button, but many similar varieties. Nice going!
