Strange button hmmmm?

I was detecting a site in Fort Loudon, PA at a property and found this little guy. On the Deux it rang up a 91 on VDI and sounded like silver as high of a tone as it let out. This is how it came out of the ground other than some dust I brushed off. I included a Memorial Cent in the photo so that you could see the size. It is non Magnetic and you can see on the back where the shank was broken off. Can anyone ID the type of button and Era this would have come from? He just bought the home as it had remained Vacant for years. It is a very old home but it is hard to say whether this button is or not. Any help would be great as I love this thing! HH

I know it is hard to tell as I am not very well educated in those . Any Idea what Era that would have been popular in? 1940's maybe? No Clue here
