I found this bullet while going through some of my finds. I think I origanally found it some ten years ago. It was found near a Civil War site but I dont think it is cw. If it is Ive never seen one like it before. The base is not pictured but it is concave like a minnie ball. Upon a closer look under a loop I can see what I think is a star on the very top. Has anyone else found one like this before? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks for the look.

Shotgun slug. There are some that are CW period but not that style. :-\

D.

Most of us think of shotgun shells as being filled with pellets. Some shotshells are loaded with a single slug. Their most common use is in hunting deer. Some states allow slug gun hunting, some don't.

odd most shotguns are not rifled up here in igloo i have never heard of one

Yep, Looks like a shotgun slug to me. The ones I shoot weigh 1 oz. each. I believe the Winchester brand had a star on them.
