That's what I thought it was when I picked it up, its quite small though.... defo a bit of weight to it too... I'm definately stumped xx

when your posting here, its best to indicate the size, use a standard ruler

looks like some sort of old powder box lid that has lost its tension clips. I remember my grand mother had all these nice boxes her makeup stuff was in, looks like one of them.

Definitely not a buckle....but the solder marks are interesting. I found a smaller brass plate a month ago with evidence of soldering where it attached too. I'm pretty sure my plate was 19th century.
Good luck getting a positive i.d. on it. This site is fantastic with some really smart folks.
