Hey .... I was just fiddling around with it and I discovered that the tip thing swivels out .

OK .......I was just looking at it with my loop & I found a number on the shaft part PP405 / 14

and I'm pretty sure that's a slash and not a 7

The PP405 is a dot matrix printer. Maybe it's a tool for working on one, and it has a bracelet to prevent the person from dropping the tool down into the printer. :dontknow: Breezie

Found a match on a sewing blog. Unfortunately she's not sure either, but here's a comment below it:

" I think the mystery bracelet-thing may be a holder for a ball of crochet thread or a small yarn ball. The user would put on the bracelet, with the ball on the rod portion, and would be able to work with the thread handy, and not have to worry about dropping it."

Have to say
At first glance i was ready to call foul
looked like a standard long cotter pin with a standard fishing swivel part
BUT, I don't get the wings that come out of the end of the cotter pin.
