A friend of mine found these bottles in an estate sale in the loft of a barn. She needs an ID and I told her I'll ask around the forums. Any idea what these are? image.jpegimage.jpeg

The tops are what is unique They are old dispenser tops for Mason type jars. Since moonshine is becoming popular again they are being sold in some Yuppie type liquor stores. (not that I've seen any). Tony

based on the size as compared to your hand in the first pic, they look too small to fit regular mason jars. I don't know exactly what they are for, but they remind me of a cream and sugar set that might be found at the table of a diner perhaps 1920's-1940's

Looks a little like a smudge pot.
But I don't know why you'd make one out of glass?

I also thought along the lines of a hanging or tilting dispenser (seeds, maybe?), but doesn't seem very practical.

Thx to everyone, but it's still a mystery. I'm going to keep this thread around for a little longer and see if more answers pop up. So far, the common guess is that it's a fly trap. Also, for clarification, the hole opens and closes when you pull on the top of the lid.

just a guess, but could be some kind of early maple syrup catch bottle?

Here's a guess..... Since they open and close, maybe you put some type of air freshener or something similar in them. Open or close to activate.
