I found this? bottle inside an old stonewall I was rebuilding this morning . it's 3 1/2 '' tall . I don't see any seams on it , and it has a pontil mark on the bottom . It's kind of crooked , so I think it is hand blown . The man looks like a '' robinhood '' type dude except he has a spear . Does anyone know the age of this or what it was for ?? Thanks -Mojjax

A very nice open pontil bottle.I looked thru my book of pontiled medicines, but couldn't find it.It looks like writing on the front at the bottom or is that some type of design.Anyway I'll keep looking. It could be rare!

Great find!! I own every bottle reference book ever printed including one I wrote myself and the only thing remotely near is a "Underwoods Cathedral Pepper sauce" Underwoods ( the same that today makes deviled ham) was famous for that type of bottle but they were usually 1 gallon pickle and very rare to find unbroken. I will did my pepper sauce out of stowage and we can compare shapes but I know for sure that dude with the spear is not on mine! Let me know if you want to sell or trade it for something else, bottles or??
You lucky dog!!

Just a thought. Looking at the figure on the bottle more closely, I notice that to me it appears to be a woman or girl holding a staff instead of a man. Unless that is a kilt instead of a skirt! 8)

very cool bottle, I found a bunch of old bottles as a kid but being a stupid kid we busted them up, but i am glad we didnt really dig much this is an old land fill in the area and its along a creek bank and highwaters had exposed the bottles we had found, I once found one that was unclesam, and his top hat was a glass cork cap, I should go back there and do a little diggin i believe from memeory when i was a kid there was a magnitude of old glass there probabaly could dig all week and not see it all, hmm something to look into, any way very nice find ;D tammahawk

Excellent find,

judging by the color, lip, style, and pontail, it's definitely 1860s/70s and it's worth a few bucks because it's not a common bottle!

My guess would be $75 to $300 depending on rariety.

Find more, dig more, post more!
