I remember my grandmother telling a story when i was a kid that some train robbers had been killed on her land back in history. Supposedly they stole some money off a train and only made it a few miles before being caught and shot in a gunfight. To further this story my uncle said when i was a kid (about 30 years ago), he saw one of my older cousins flipping a coin, asked him to see it and said it was a silver coin that said "Confederate States of America", and my cousin showed him where he had found it. According to my uncle that inquired years later, my cousin has no memory of this or any coin. My uncle remembers the location of where my cousin found the coin.
Odds are its just an adventure to go on and enjoy the outdoors. But just incase something like this did exist and were found, are the coins the property of the US government now or is it finders keepers?
