Places NOT to buy Xmas gifts if you think they might need to be exchanged/returned!

....Checked on Snopes.

It seems there are lots of stores that are closing due to the "recession" and the fact that people are not shopping. If you have any "gift cards" from these stores, make sure you use them, or you will lose them!

Watch those store money cards, gift cards, and credit slips! The following stores have informed the Security Exchange of closing plans between October 2008 and January 2009.

Circuit City stores... most recent (? how many)

Ann Taylor- 117 stores nationwide are to be shuttered

Re: Stores Closing Just go this email

Thanks for the info! If they keep this up, the only place we'll have to shop is Walmart. :tard:

SilverBob,

SHERMANVILLE

Re: Stores Closing Just go this email

Yup, Shermanville is right, get all those paranoid e-mails all to often. More stores being built on Randall Road by the day. Kid works by the mall here, too busy for her likiing she sez. Oh yeah, gas is under 2 bucks a gallon again, guess that means everything is right in the world again.

We'll see.

Re: Stores Closing Just go this email

Gas was $1.66/gal at the Jewel gas station by my house yesterday. It's been going down 7 or more cents per day.

I think this "recession" crap is created by people not buying stuff and hoarding their money believing that a recession is coming!

So what if these companies are closing, just make sure you get a good deal and think thoughtfully and the recipient won't have to return it and you won't be wasting your money on walmart's chinese crap.

Re: Stores Closing Just go this email

The most depressing bit of info I've gotten all day has come from Des Plaines Silver Bob: Piercing Pagoda is closing all stores. Where the hell am I supposed to go for all of my piercing needs? Without Piercing Pagoda, my life is over. And to think, I was just planning on piercing my septum and inserting a rusty nail I dug in there. I suppose I'll have to hurry!

wah wah waahhh

Sceptum?!? Dang near killed 'em!

Hey Brett, you get a better deal on American made ammo from Wal Mart than just about anywhere else. AND cheap American made lunchmeat to boot! Not to mention the droves of MD'ers who got their first stick-bound mufflers (BH) there!

Amazon.com
newegg.com
ebay.com

Who needs retail...... I hate having to deal with the general public.

For other needs there is
CopesDistributing.com
centerfiresystems.com
RGuns.com

Things get to get on the Fly and toothpaste/deodorant/ and chit paper....Wally World

The listed retail stores need to go out of business and they are. I order online, stuff comes well boxed, free shipping, no tax and is on time.
I go retail, the box looks like it has been in a war, it has been repacked/returned but I'm still paying full price as it is "New"

I like things I buy full price to to be factory new, aka fresh.... never fails that retail lets me down and the above internet sites rock.

The only one I like is Eddie Bauer but I buy online and return in their stores. They don't stock any tall stuff in the stores and tall 2X is a double no no in the store. I buy online, the clothes are factory fresh, haven't been tried on by god knows who and re hung.

About the only thing I do retail is shoes, as sizes are all over the place, one companies 12 is another's 11.5 etc.

I'd say the list is true, I know circuit city will be gone, they have been looking for someone to buy them for months. Best buy aint that far behind them if the Xmas season is a bust. Clothing stores are doing horrible business.....even Orange Julius may be gone! lol

It won't break my heart if they close or not. I don't care for shopping, however, I enjoy shopping online! I don't do that often, but will be in a few days for my Christmas shopping! I do get gifts during the year, but there's always those last minute items I want to get!

I like Eddie Bauer's...they have some awesome clothes and I like KMart, cause I like ROUTE 66 Brand clothes! Or was that Walmart? One has one brand I like and the other has the other brand I like...being only 4'11, I ALWAYS have a hard time finding britches that fit me (for the length).

I miss those MOM AND POP stores! Where you went in and knew the owners, who always greeted you with a smile and always chatted with you.

I don't feel sorry for the BIG 3...however, my heart does go out to the men and women who built those companies! It's not the CEO's that built the companies, but the employees who come to work and build the product! Maybe those BIG 3 need to be knocked down the ladder a few rungs, back to the day when they actually had to do manual labor!!! I bet if they sold those private planes, they would have some extra money in the companies funds!

I guess I'm a hoarder of my money, but I have always been that way....has nothing to do with our current situation. However, working in a grocery store...I hang the tags for the price of the items and I can not get over how much it goes up...DAILY!!! Yeah, gas may be coming down, but food prices are NOT changing. I recently lost my current position with the company I work for also, due to cut backs. I'll still assist with hanging tags from time to time, but I loved that job and the hours were great! I just did not want to go back to cashiering or CSR Mgr, however, it does put me back into handling money and when I can handle the money, I can go through it and see what coins I have been missing since I changed positions! So, there is a good side to cashiering LOL.

Then the other day, we have been hearing rumors our store, that was once due for a complete make-over, won't happen now, is slated for closing! Such is life, but we move on!

Happy Days to EVERYONE!

My buddy came over yesterday with a new AR from GAT. He wanted to do a few mods and ends on it so we banged it around awhile. He said he noted the AR's are flying off the racks and being back-ordered like crazy all of sudden. Big surge in business I guess.

Economy of lead looking up....
Buy lead!

Man that sux, I wanted an AR for years now!!! Same with all 3 tommy gun (gangster, military, and hybrid) In NC they were $1,000 each back in 2002. In NC an AK was $300 Russan out the door, I tried to buy one up here 2 years ago, they wanted $900 for a cheap Chinese, chicago has always been way expesive!!!
