Talked to the President, and,She gave me permission to hunt several places that She privately owns,
the oldest being 1757.I was asked if in Oct. I would speak of the finds I've made around town at their Annual meeting,I said " I would be pleased too".I see this opening doors to a LOT of older private property, what a Blessed Day!!!!!

The house was built in 1757 by house wright on land originally owned by Mathew Noble. Noble was one of the towns earliest settlers to be given a land grant by William Pychon in 1715.
Untouched by modernization, the Georgian gambrel remains today as it did in the 1700’s.

Good point on the privy. My large old home in MI. was one of the oldest in town (Constantine). I had the home up for sale and THEN decided to make a steel rod and poke around for the privys. And I found privy's alright. 6 of them right in a row. Dug everyone and found over 400 intact bottles. Then found 5 more around corner of lawn. Then found 3 more on border with neighbor but never got to dig them. Had to move to new job. If you can locate the exact spot you'll be surprised what you might find. You got a lot of fun ahead of you. Wish I was closer to help ya with the privies if they'll let you dig them.

Awesome news Worldtalker, you've motivated me to finally make a trip to my local Historical Society! :laughing7: Hopefully you get some good leads out of it. Good luck!

Never know until you ask. Very cool. Look forward to seeing what you come across

I believe She will, told me the grounds keeper knows exactly where they are.

Good deal! All that private property to hunt AND you get to make contacts with others when you speak at the their meeting! I'd say go all out for that meeting! Make presentation boards and maybe have a little history card with each piece you find. Let them get hands on with the items and ask if they would like to join you sometime! Heck fire, got ME excited for you! lol Gotta get the number to Historical Society now! HH :icon_thumleft:

Great method to get in on the ground floor...

There are probably many other members that will give you the same opportunity...

Enjoy
