I have this item made of some type of stone. It looks like a small vase but when looking inside it makes me think it's not due to the lack of space inside.....it's just a narrow cylindrical hole which I can barely fit the tip of my pinky finger in. What came out of it looks to me like powder or chalk. Also, when I put it up to a light it appears translucent. The top and base looks like silver, as it has some tarnish to it. I did find a similar one on etsy and it was described as onyx. It stands 5" tall and 2" wide. I'm trying to find out if this is actually onyx or soapstone. I'd be grateful for any info on this piece.

It looks like iridescent white carnival glass.

Was it a lamp at one time the center looks like the ceramic that was around old light bulbs?

I'm thinking it was not because the silver base does not have a hole in it, rather the opposite....the base has a raised round center which fits into the body.

Please take some close ups of both the stone and the metal work please.

Make sure yopu include any details in metalwork.. the faces etc...
And any striations or marks within the stone ... any thing that seems to jump out.
Clear areas... dark areas... lines... marks etc.
