Found this at an ancient indian site. Same creek as the mortar I posted. These are my thoughts ANY corrections would be appreciated.

Both sides are perfectly uniform with exception of the notch on top. The notch that runs along the backside is at an angle so the palm fits comfortably

This picture shows the fractures from use. Also shows the notch for the palm along the back and also the notch that runs at an angle on top to the side for an index finger wrap for a right handed individual.

This picture shows the wear. The wear is angled as if a right handed individual used the axe.

This pic shows the finger hold for index finger as it wraps around the notch.

This is the top view which shows the notch and finger hold as well as the uniform workmanship of both sides coming to the percussion zone

This pic shows how it fits in the hand.

Yeah I thought it was different then any other axe heads. Figure I would post it and get some professional opinions. I appreciate you're reply.

I too see only a natural stone.

I have found a few things in the creek at the same site that look worked. You can see the lines of where pecking started and stopped. Also a really big stone that looks worked. This piece doesn't show clearly any pecking lines. The notches looked man made to me as well as the wear at the impact zone which does not show up as well with the pic.

Definitely appreciate you're opinion also I had visited an Archeologist locally and no I did not show him my rock that I thought was a scraper. I showed him other rocks Ha Ha!. I did however get to look at a bunch of stone tools. Also he had gave me a bunch burial reports from digs of the local Indians here in California where I live. Basically detailed reports on what was found in the grave sites as well as pictures of artifacts that were founded. Also excerpts from the Spanish settlers on there view of the Indians that were plentiful where I live. If you or any of the guys here are interested I can figure out how to send them to you. Right now it is a usb.

You and Unclemac were part of another thread that I posted and I was being stubborn. I appreciate the fact that you guys took the time to look at my post and give me the time of day.

Sorry, I am only seeing natural stone..

Piece of limestone imo. It forms many natural shapes

It's a rock, Mother Nature makes them in all sorts of shapes.

Yeah she's been fooling me. I should have realized that there is no evidence that man pecked and grinded this rock. Shapes and notches are no indicator only possibility with very low probability depending on where found. And as mentioned to me lots of rocks fit in the hand.
