Stone, but what?

i found this in the bush while metal detecting it was berried in a rock wall, (an 100 year old ax head above it). i have some ideas but would like some more. Will set up more photos later in the day(suns not up). Not sure if the light would help the photo as the out lines of what ever is in the stone does npot show up in certain lights,

Limestone, there was water at one time where you found it. People have found fossils on the tops of mountains proving there was once water covering the tops millions of years ago.
