I went out today to some yard sales to see if I can find anything good. I need to look up jewelry because I know it off the top of my head pretty good. However I came to these prints that were Eisenhower prints and I couldnt look them up. The completed listing section on eBay's not working. I figures just my phone, get home nope still not working here either. So I bought four of them for 10 bucks I hope it's worth it. I've been trying for three hours to look up some other things and getting nothing.

Do you have any pictures? I just did a quick search on Ebay and there are all sorts of different prints

Yep. Here they are. Thanks

Prints seem to be a popular buy, but they just do not fetch very much money. You made out by only paying 10 dollars for the 4, but it may be a long while before you actually sell them. With prints you have got to know the artist and you have got to know the art market.

The art market in general is soft, and prints are just another thing that went down with it. Original art is selling at a fraction of what it was selling for in the 90s, and prints are just incredibly hard to sell. Even artist proofs, which was in another thread earlier this month.

Again, good buy at 10 bucks, but you may be sitting on them for a while

Happy hunting.

Not knowing art, if it was taking a $10 lottery ticket chance it's worth it. Even if you lost half your money in the end it's only $5.... but if you were interested at $10, then someone else would be too, so really you never did need completed auctions. Now if it was a lot more money that's a different story, but you should never worry about buying something that's so cheap that there's little question someone else would pay the same, or there's just not much to lose on the deal. Too many here are too concerned about making big multiples in profit and in doing so I think it makes them cheap, cheap in the sense that they're scared to take a chance and lose anything.... even just a few dollars. And if you think that way you lose good buys at some time or another.

I understand that. I seem to spend $10 a lot of times hoping it's a good deal. I don't mind losing out on $10. Just it's a lot better feeling when you spend $10 and you can sell the thing within a month Instead of a year! I never ever buy this type of stuff either. I know first thing about it. And it looks like if it's going to take a long time to sell and I'll get about $15 out of each one or $ 20. I probably won't buy them anymore. I'm trying to make myself focus on stuff I know better. And then learn more about stuff I don't before I buy it. Today I saw two vases that were carnival glass. And I know carnival glass can be pretty valuable. But I guess I don't know a lot about that either, I didn't buy it but I saw the same exact vase online buy it now for $6 with $30 shipping. Glass and pictures/ paintins are very foreign to me!!

I'm lucky that almost everything I buy is very small so taking up space is not an issue. So I'm not worried about how long i have things, as long as I make money in the end. If you want to change your view of this just think of it as equity. Sure I'd love to sell everything quick at a great price, but that's not reality, so I do enjoy seeing all the items I have on hand and what it adds up to. In the new year I plan to go as crazy as I possibly can. More and more stuff to me means more money. :headbang: ...and the positive greatly outweighs any negative.

Iron patch, I do agree with you that it is not a big gamble at 10 dollars, but you cant do this often. 10 dollar investments on items that do not sell well add up quickly. I keep a keen eye on the art market and I wont touch even a 1 dollar print anymore. I just know it will take far too long to sell, and on a 5 dollar item at best I cannot justify charging the 5+ dollars to ship, even using media shipping. They are a great buy, great eye for good art, but the market is not there.

I also agree I stay with smalls, cheap, no overhead for storage (i.e. Special storage, storage unit) I just also know how irritating it is to sit on a quality item for months before it sells, even with storage not being a problem.

To each their own I suppose.

Not sure why you think we disagree because my entire week, month, and year revolves around finding a balance of items I can move fast, and ones that I need to sit on to get my price. I'm talking more than $10 things so believe me I know all about how easy it is to spend all your cash on awesome looking stuff, and then wonder what the heck you're going to do while waiting for it to sell. Fortunately I move enough at auction each week to give me a good base income to work from, and in addition to that I always sell some fixed price too, and both revenue streams combined gives me the buying power i need. (or decent anyway-but want more) Things are going well, but from the past few months I've discovered I can probably step up the amount of my fixed price items and as long as i keep that good auction base I think things will grow. I have enough experience in what I do that it's not so much of a factor anymore, and at this point I think it's more about having a system.... and I think I am close to being there. I hope it works out because it takes some of the thinking out of it, saves me time, which in turn will let me move more and more stuff.

I didnt mean for any of what I stated to come off as disagreement, in fact I take a lot of what you say to note. You are the most experienced I have seen on here in terms of Ebay and reselling as a business, I meant no offense.

Maybe I just ramble the most. :laughing7: I do have a lot of experience though, and you gain experience quick when it's ebay and eat, or don't eat. :)
