Location: Our front yard of house formerly owned by my wife's parents.
Searching for: Gold & peridot ring lost by my wife's mother in 1975
Found: Lots of trash, two quarters ('66 & '68) and an old bell for an animal collar.

I can't believe how strong a signal you get from a tiny, wadded up ball of foil wrapper. It sounded like the hull of the Titanic.

Yea some of them pieces of foil can be supprising. It's good your digging foil tho. If its a tiny (thin) Gold ring. It will register as Foil

Yep, unfortunately, since I'm looking for a woman's gold ring, which is likely a thin band, I have to dig up every crusty low sound. I'll be glad when I find it so I can switch over to just listening for the high pings. When it's all said and done, we'll have the yard with the lowest levels of aluminum on our block.
