Ya, I agree. Looks like it may have been to a harness or something....just based on what you usually see with shoe buckles and what not.

I don't think it's a buckle its like a hook or something. The middle thing doesn't swing like a buckle its in place like a hook.

Maybe you would place something around that hook and would make it easier to raise or pull whatever it is up. Not sure

duh...military buckle...
for a seat belt/parachute harness...ect.
one half of a two piece buckle.

I've got a couple of those laying around in my old dug-relic junkboxes. I'd been told many years ago that they are horse-harness "buckles." But for certainty, I asked Creskol to take a look at this thread, because in my view he is this forum's #1 "go-to" guy for antique horse/mule gear, wagon-harness & parts, etc. Thanks for replying with the object's correct ID -- and photo so everybody can see for themselves that it is indeed correct.
