I have had some sugestions from:

The middle parts kinda look like the levers and pads of a clarinet or similar instrument.

Maybe the badge off of a clarinet case

Seems like it was a celtic themed brooch,

seems so similar to a french horn finger cups.


But none of these sugestions seem to solve the question.

Found at an old homesite, 1850's.
I haven't found any coins older than 1919.
Looks like this was once enamaled, with letters around the outside that I cant make out. Once had 4 clear stones.

On the back there apears to be a pin attachment site which would orient the pin.

Try rubbing something white (non-damaging and removable) into the text/engraving around the perimeter. This will help high-lite any discernible word (can't tell from photo) and provide a clue...
