Still need answer! Please help!

What's the question? :dontknow:

I have a few about the item you are holding. How big is it? What metal is it? Is it threaded?

I believe it's lead, I found it at a house built in 1925. It's very heavy and has a white like color like how lead turns. Everything I found in the yard was from the 1930s. I need to know what it is and a time frame.

As in the picture it's about the size of 2 quarters one above the other I believe it's lead it looks, feels, and rang up like lead. I can't tell if its threaded.

I agree .. a lead paper weight.. if it isn't, it would make a darn good one that's just about the size of two quarters.:hello2:

Are they solid though?

No they're thick and heavy though, it could be a lot of things, it's hard to ID an object like you have, it is round, lead, beveled and rusty. I could only guess maybe someone will pop in and know. Good luck.

It's not rusty I just haven't cleaned the dirt off afraid of ruining whatever it is.

its an ingot

Any idea why there would be an ingot of lead at a house? I'm just wondering how they might have used it. If so it sounds cool to have.

they could have had it to make bullets or sinkers

I'm no expert but I do have some thoughts on this. My grandfather grew up pitching washers to a hole dug in the ground. It was a game they played back then. He said that was a pretty popular thing in this area back in the old days (east central Mississippi). They would melt lead into snuff can lids to make the "washers". I have metal detected a couple dozen of these locally at old homesites and my grandfather verified that's what they were. Just something to think on. This looks too big but that could explain why the ingot. I agree with the fishing weights post also. My dad still poured his own fishing weights until just a few years ago.

Lead was used during the time of cast iron plumbing pipes. The drain pipes were joined together and the joint packed with oakum, then sealed with lead. So it's perfectly logical for lead to be at a house built in the 20' or 30's.
