I don't want to add junk to the great finds people find on here but with this picture I have a couple question, I spend a lot of time in my back yard learning my teknetics gamma 6000 because I'm completely new to this hobby and I LOVE IT! Plus there is more junk buried in this yard then you can ever imagine. (Built in 1955 and has always been a rental property) I found two small pieces of concrete that for some reason hit on my detector as nickel so I kept them (right of the wrench) question 1) does concrete do this? I'm going to break them up to see if anything is in it but I doubt there is. And question 2) all those nails hit on my gamma as quarters. Is there something I'm doing wrong or a tone I should listen for that will allow me to pass these up? The sound I swear was the same high pitched sound I heard when I did find the quarter (just left of the big spike) The GOOD news is this is the first time I've actually found money :hello2: all clad except one Penny is a wheat back (it was also 7 inches down which I thought was cool) :headbang: so I'm pretty happy. The feeling I got when I actually dug up the first penny was amazing! Even though the first one was a 1987 (only 2 inches down) it was like "Yesssssss! I actually found a coin!!!" Also when I started to dig up the electrical housing box (top left) I got so darned excited thinking "OMG! It's a stash of coins or something!" Lol but no, just an electrical box haha. Anyway, any pointers on how to tell nails from quarters? Again I'm new so I may just not understand what I'm hearing anyway. Thanks in advance for any pointers. HH! ALSO: today I had notched out iron and foil thinking I wouldn't get any more nails but I did hitting on the readout as quarters.

Can't help you with that particular machine as I have a T2 SE but welcome and aboard and congrats on finding a wheat cent. Lots of very smart people on here that can help you. I've been detecting a couple months and they help me all the time. Best of luck in the future

What signal did the washing machine give ? Heh, keep learning it you'll be digging treasure in no time. Your off to a good start, anytime you find a washing machine you know your on the right track. :laughing7: Sorry, I don't mean to imply that your doing something wrong. I'm just trying to make a joke. No hard feelings and on a serious note. You're doing great !! :icon_thumleft:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello:

Thanks guys, lol, I bet there's MORE money in that washer then in my backyard! Lol maybe I should search it! HH

The 2 chunks of concrete could have a piece of rebar in them. Not familiar with your machine but does it have an Iron Audio that you can turn on/off if so it might be off.

The concentric coil.

i haven`t tryed this with the Concentric coil but ....when you get a good sounding target like the 1 you are getting on the Iron nails
Try to slowly pull the coil to you as you sweep, as you come off the target IF it is a ( good target copper/silver/clad ) the sound and the #s will stay the same....if it is a Iron target the numbers will drop and you Will hear the Iron Grunt.
It work very well on the Omega with the DD coil,i have the con.coil but don`t use it much.
It will help if you disc.the iron square nail out...i carry a Bent medium sized square nail with me on all hunts and disc.it out on clean ground where ever i hunt.... or very little disc.

Excellent, thanks G.A.P. I'll give that a shot! And thanks worldtalker I'm trying like heck to get these sounds down, my youngest son was telling me the other day, "Wow there is SO much more to this then just being told hey there's a silver coin dig it up" lol I told him if it was that easy the hobby would be boring son. I'm not finding any silver, or any lost treasure chests lol, but I'm loving this so much, because I truly never know what I'm going to dig up next! It's a kick in the pants! Can't believe I've waited so long to buy a machine. I feel I've truly cheated myself out of year of fun! HH All.

G.A.P.METAL, That bringing the coil towards you worked to a T! Saved me a lot of digging! Thanks!

Teknetics are great machines. They get squirley on steel though especially rusted steel. Raising the coil and re-sweeping is good however digging it is better. For example, this year I had a 77 (memorial penny 99% of the time) at 2 inches I dug it and it was a celtic style emerald ring in silver. Best advice is wheats always come in at 84 solid quarters at 92 solid and everything else is jumpy (indians flash from 58-66) so just dig.. Enjoy and welcome to a incredible hobby (passion)

Ya m6 will sound off when walking it across the sidewalks because of rebar in the concrete. Usually there is a difference in sound or read out on the back swing when target is not a good one.

Teknetics Gamma gold tone?
