Learned a few new things about my machine last weekend. Armed with this new knowledge I headed out to my front yard after a day of soaking rains and found a 1918 Canadian large cent in an area I'd already hunted. Still so much to learn, but I'm getting better every hunt. Any advice on cleaning without damaging the coin?

Soak in olive oil to loosen some of the crud.

Drop that sucker in boiling peroxide, works like a charm put the peroxide in a plastic container and microwave til it boils than drop the coin in and leave it til it stops 5 to 10 min should do it, the good thing about this method is you can't over do it!! Check out my you tube channel 502petrie I'm uploading a video tonight on how to clean coins with sulphuric acid which is how the pros do it and its the only cleaning method recognized by the grading companies!!

Thanks guys. Did the boiling peroxide and its much better. But still bubbling and fuzzing and still has some stubborn dirt. I'll keep doing it until there isn't any dirt coming off. Then a bit of that evoo to take care of that dried out look. I'll post a pick when I'm done!
