Still Having Pinpointing Problems On The Beach with X-70

I have only gone beach hunting a few times and am still having trouble setting my x-70 up properly. I set the ground balance to beach mode, but the pinpoint mode will signal a target when frequently there isnt one there. It is overly sensitive. It appears I have something not set properly. It happens more frequently over wet sand. What am I doing wrong?

I recommend pinpointing with the prospecting mode. It is far easier to tell what is down there with prospecting mode.

Are you saying that while in the coin mode you detector tells you there is a target under your coil. However, when you go to the pinpoint mode there is no target??? What is your sensitivity setting? Maybe you could post what all your settings are," set" at.

What coil are you using? A lower klhz coil would work better. Turn your sensitivity down to a lower level. seeya Neilo

That's because wet salt is conductive(acts like a metal) and single frequency VLF metal detectors will not pinpoint properly. The best method is to not use pinpoint and simply "X" over the target. Depending on the mineral content of the sand once a hole is dug, even "X-ing" may give a response to an empty hole. Most likely an empty hole will respond with an ID of approx."4". Just keep that in mind and therefore check each pile you dig out of the hole for your target, not the hole.
