Still can't believe it. Kaching! (pics)

I went out friday to get some coin. Stopped at about 10 banks in 3 different towns. A nice little road trip. I bought about $400 in dimes, and about $450 in halves, most rolled. The loose gave up nothing, the dimes were kinda bummin me out too. Only got a 68 canadian and a 59 rosie in all the dimes.
The halves were much better. 3 of the rolls contained silver. 1 roll had a 64 and a 65. Another roll had a lone 40%. I noticed one of the rolls was pretty old. It had some writing on it, it had $9.50 written on it, and scribbled off, also $8.50 on it and scribbled off. Well the bummer is, the roll was a dollar short. But what was inside more than made up for the 2 coin shortage. It was a solid roll except for a 1980 half. It was almost all 90%, mostly walking liberties. It also had 2 bennies, 2 64kens, and 3 40%ers. The best single roll I have ever come across in my 2 year career. And I've found solid rolls before, just always 40%. One of the walkers is a key date. Take a look at my totals, and the pics as well.
totals for the day
dimes:
68 canadian-silver
59 rosie
Halves:

Way to go!!!!!

I know envy is a sin...but I am envious!!!!

I would consider this my first real dream roll. I've had nice 40% rolls before, but this blows those away. It was such a nice variety of coins, I can only hope whoever brought those in brings more in. I honestly don't remember what bank it was at. There were several banks that only had 1 roll of halves each, I think it was one of those banks.
Either way, next week I'll be back out in full swing. I love customer rolls!

Love those old Walkers! They are in great shape! :notworthy:

Re: Still can't believe it. Kaching! (pics)

what do you guys think that 16S walker is worth? My book has it listed at $110 in G4, but I would probly say it would grade at least a VG to F condition. Any opinions?? You can read LIBERTY all letters, but the rim is worn. I don't think I'll sell it, maybe my best single coin ever pulled from the wild.

Great find. I'd say the 1916 S looks about VG or so. Does the reverse look about the same?

Way to go!

yeah, the reverse looks about the same. Too bad it wasn't uncirculated, still happy with it though.

WOW great finds wish my rolls would turn up stuff that good :o

Re: Still can't believe it. Kaching! (pics)

fistfull, I doubt I'd ever sell that. I have many other coins I'd sell before that one, mostly all 40% halves, or other junk silver. That's going to be in a special part of my collection.
Thanks Riley, I can only hope I have a score even close to this good again. I may have just had the best coin hunting day I'll ever have. But I think someday I'll top it. It'll be tough to find a better coin though

Dave,
last year I think I only found 4 walkers, maybe 5. So this tops all of last years walkers in one day for me. I'm gonna love it if I find more this year.

Re: Still can't believe it. Kaching! (pics)

Awesome find sir and congrats on a great key date! :icon_thumleft: I wish i could tell you it grades VG or better but looking at my photograde book, it looks to be a solid G-4. The G-4 description states that the rims are almost merging with the lettering. Still a $110 coin and a great find! Congrats!

Re: Still can't believe it. Kaching! (pics)

Thank you mountain man. It probably would grade a g4-g6 to a lot of people. My book states that a g4 has to have the word liberty showing only 3 letters being readable. I think this coin might be a bit higher grade since you can clearly read all of the letters, so possibly a vg grade. I guess it would depend on who graded it and what they look for. My book also says for it to be in Fine condition all of the rim has to be there with slight ware. There isn't any rim left on this so it's for sure not going to grade any higher than a vg. I'm still happy with it, and it will only appreciate in value as years pass. I doubt I'll ever find another 16S, I can only hope to find other key dates.
The only walker left that is more rare to find would be a 21s, and that's probly not going to happen. I don't understand why the 21s is worth more money though if they minted about 30,000 less of them than the 16s. Anyone know?
