Not found at the beach this time though. 100+- year old or so area of known history. From what I can gather online about the Lunkenheimer Company is that they made all sorts of brass valves and other similar items since 1862. I'm mainly curious as to what this particular item was used for, and it's approximate age. In the first photo, you can see the company name on the ring around the opening. That ring also holds a piece of glass. You can see some of the remnants still there. Sight glass for some sort or liquid? Oil? Water? No apparent corrosion inside, so I doubt it held water. Maybe it also had another ring/bezel and glass on the other side too? Top hole is threaded also. The mounting fitting has a 1/8" hole through it into the center section.
