HI gang.. as you can see I'm still alive, after my anniversary "surprise" for my wife Earlier in the week. I took a vacation day Friday to see my doctor and to recover from the long drive and.. ahem.. other activities over the past few days, so with a little time to spare in the afternoon I grabbed my Prizm IV and headed out to a nearby Baseball/Softball park. No one was there and the heat of the day had passed, mostly, so I had the park to myself.
Within minutes I was picking up target after target and digging up coin after coin. I even found coins in between the Flowers in the landscaped little beds outlining the walkways and separating the various fields and bleachers from the central concession stand. Either someone was feeding coins to the flowers or people don't bother skirting the flowerbeds on their way to and from the concession stand. Either way, I collected!
After about an hour and a half I had to call it a day. The heat of the day had passed, but it was still PLENTY HOT and I was wearing thin in the heat.
$5.56 in clad, a few odds and ends, the usual pull tabs of course. Nothing to write home about, but good practice and hey.. battery money!

Till next time! Happy Hunting one and all!

Nice diggins' Frodov! Good that people are kinda careless with coin...

Keep safe...

I don't know that I have a "secret" for finding a high percentage of quarters.. I really dont' think it IS a high percentage really, as I find more pennies than quarters on most hunts. I know that quarters are a lot easier to detect, at least with my machine (Prizm IV), they make really nice targets and all that. <grin> I *do* try to better my odds by thinking about where I hunt though. I imagine myself watching a game (base ball, football, soccer) and what route I would take to go from the bleachers or viewing areas to the concession stands... and back. Have to remember that humans are predominantly a lazy creature by nature. The shortest, easiest path to travel from point A to point B is the most likely path of travel. Even if it is cutting through a flower bed or through some bushes or trees. I tend to find a lot of coins around flowers and bushes and trees.. as to exactly why or how people are losing coins as they pass through these vegetatively enhanced areas is beyond me.. maybe the plant life is levitating the coinage out of their pockets or something weird like that... <laughing> All I know is that the coins are there most of the time.. perhaps it's because other metal detectors (in my area) haven't bothered to look there as well as the open grassy areas. <shrug>
I've always been amazed at the number of dimes that turn up. But I'll take quarters anytime I can find them. Just wish that some of them would be silver now and again. <grin> Of course I'll have to hunt in more silver friendly locales to find those. Modern "new" ball parks and soccer complexes are not as likely to have old coinage laying around waiting to be detected.. at least not old YET.. perhaps in the future what modern clad that hasn't desolved in the soil will be looked upon as "OLD" and highly prized coin.

I keep looking.. and I keep finding.. just don't find as much as I look!

Happy Hunting All

Good count for an hour & a half! It sometimes takes me all day to find that much. Way to go Frodo!
