"Steve's" carbon-fiber Equinox shafts, and Equinox and CTX 3030 lower rods, IN STOCK

Just an update...

I have several standard (i.e. without button holes) Equinox
complete carbon-fiber shafts
in stock, including configurations with, or without, counterweight compatibility.

Equinox carbon-fiber
lower rods
are in stock, with parts available to build custom "tall-man" lower rods...
CTX 3030 carbon-fiber
lower rods
are in stock, with parts available to build custom "tall-man" lower rods...
Parts are also available to build custom length/weight counterweights...

Finally, I also have custom
colored
carbon-fiber shafts "on the drawing board;" I plan to begin taking "special orders" in an estimated 4-6 weeks. Please see the attached pictures, for various color options that are possible.

THANKS!

Steve

Wow! That is nice! Looks like I will be placing another order with you. I was just looking at the neoprene camp covers for the nox. These colors look great! Can you get custom colors like 1950’s blue, yellow? I bet it would look good with that carbon fiber pattern.

Still loving mine!

Thanks, Dan! As far as I know, these colors are the only ones offered by my tube supplier at this time. I'll confirm...

HIGHSTRUNG -- SUPER! Glad to hear that you are pleased with yours!

Steve

In the 3rd picture, counting from left to right- I like the 4th one . Is that sky blue and black? Or what color would you call that one?

Dan -- the manufacturer calls that "blue-black." Sounds like you've found a color you like!

Left to right, it's green-black, blue, green, blue-black, pink, and red...

I'll post an annotated picture later this evening, with all the colors labelled.

Thanks!

Steve

Ok, yea that blue-black is a nice color. They are all nice. I will buy one soon

Dan,

Sounds great -- I really appreciate your interest!

Steve

Here is a picture of the available colors, labelled with color names...

Steve,
I absolutely love the Carbon Fiber shaft you made for me for the Equinox 800. In fact, your shafts are superior to the Anderson and plugger shafts of which I had both. Now these new ones with color are drool worthy.
I just picked up an Equinox 600 so I will have to get a new shaft for it. The color ones are awesome!

Will the shafts with color be able to be made with the Balance attachment like the all Black one I ordered?
Thanks,
Rusty

Rusty,

I am THRILLED that you are so happy with the shaft I made for you; THANKS for the very kind words!!

I will be happy to build you another shaft, for your 600!

As for the counterweights, YES, you can order a colored shaft with counterweight, but I won't have the counterweights in the different colors; the weights will still be black. I have two different tube suppliers -- one for the shafts, and one for the counterweight tubes, and I am pretty sure the tube supplier for the counterweights does not have the colored tubes...

THANKS!

Steve

Still love mine! Made all the difference. Feels like it floats on air with the counterbalance.

MetalArchSC --

THANKS for the kind words -- and I'm SO glad the shaft has made the EQX more comfortable/manageable for you! That's the goal!

Steve

Shooting Star -- I just checked with the supplier, and they informed me that they expect to shift the shafts no later than April 20...it won't be TOO much longer!

Thanks!

Steve

Yea, I started to drool as well. I just didn’t say anything. Was going to ask. How do I figure out the counter balance weight to go with the 15in coil?

Dan --

I have an entire "blog post" that I've written up "online" about the counterweights, but forum rules prevent me from divulging the website. If you don't know it already, let me know and I'll send you a PM. What I can say is, the "right" amount of weight is an "individual" thing, and I try to work personally with each customer to "get it right," in terms of their particular needs and situation. In other words, I try to "custom fit" each person, to the best of my ability...and as long as we get it "close," it's usually good, since the threaded cap on the counterweight permits access to the small bags of weight inside the tube. Thus, each customer can experiment with what weighting works best for them, and "mix and match" bags of weight as necessary. The length of the tube does dictate the MAXIMUM amount of weight that can be included, obviously, but there's alot of flexibiity in just how much weight you wish to use, at any given time, in any given scenario.

Generally, a 4 1/2" tube, that holds a maximum of 16 oz. of counterweight, has proven to be the most popular option; however, I've done shorter weights for some, and longer weights -- up to the maximum of 6 7/8" in length (and a maximum capacaity of 28 oz. of weight) for several customers as well.

One way to kind of get a feel for it is this -- IF you own the 6" coil, and you feel it swings very comfortably (which is how most people characterize the 6" coil), then it becomes relatively easy to "fit" that person for a counterweight. Reason being, it becomes clear that this person does not need PERFECT balance (which would require the full 6 7/8" tube, with 25 to 28 oz. of weight installed), but instead the goal in this case would be to make the larger coils FEEL/SWING just like the 6" coil feels. In other words, we are only counterbalancing the EXTRA weight that the larger coils add, compared to the 6" coil, instead of entirely balancing the FULL weight of the coil. And since it only takes about 9 oz. of weight to offset the 11" coil's "extra" weight, and 15 oz. to offset the 12" x 15" coil's "extra" weight, then that 4 1/2" counterweight is the perfect option (and is why it is so popular).

Hopefully this makes sense, and helps to answer your question. If you need more (personalized) information, please let me know -- you can contact me via email at [email protected], and we'll work through the process to get you "fit" for the right counterweight for your needs.

THANKS!

Steve

The new ones are coming soon; the tubes have been shipped... :)

Steve

I have a complete set of upper, lower and counterweight for my Equinox 600. I have to say they are very high quality and Steve weighted the counter just perfect. I can swing my big coil all day with no fatigue. Great shafts.
