Well u found a few keepers. I was skunked on my last half box but I found 3 or 4 clad proofs including a reverse ender too.

Nice pics. Buffalo looks in nice condition with a clear full date. Good luck in 2014 and HH!

Not the best results but your year started off with silver, that's always a good thing. my year is currently started with 1 war nickel (1942P)
From:
1 nickel box (1 war nickel)
3 dime boxes (skunks)
4 half dollar boxes (skunks)
best of luck this year.

Thanks guys. I always hope for at least 1 silver each week. I started slow last year with low volume. This year will be a lot higher volume.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Steven

Bad start to the year in halves but nickels have been great and lots of proofs. Found my second commemorative half as well.

That was a nice nickel box! My best had 3 war nickels. I also like the look of that commemorative half. Happy hunting!

Thanks Hunter,

My best nickel box had been 2 and I have now hit two boxes in the last three weeks that had 4 silver each. I will take it since the halves have dried up in my area.

Great nickels and that commem is cool! Those are hard to find.

Great nickel box! I'm a nickel and half hunter too. Nickels tend to be a nice reliable source of silver (and other keepers) and help out a little when the halves aren't producing much. I only got 2 clad proofs and 1 magicians half (can't open it yet) from my 1 half box this week but Im hoping for some silver from some nickels I got for the wknd.

H$H!

hey steve

lol r u the guy returning all ur halfs to fulton bank downtown Lancaster...lol everytime I go there and ask for halfs dollars the tellers say that someone just brought in a lot hand rolled. I looked thru a few but they were definitely picked thru...lol

Lol, no unfortunately that isn't me. There are plenty of competition in our area.

Good luck and happy hunting

Congrats on the Walker and the nice earlier date '23 buffalo. U seem to be consistently finding a nice condition clear date buffalo in every nickel box so far this year. Btw, did u check the '23 buffalo for an S mm?

So is this a popular pastime in the NorthEast? I see a lotta hunters from West Coast and Midwest. Driving thru NJ a while ago some tellers told me that people search for silver.

Great finds, Great average too. Thanks for sharing, I enjoy reading your log.

Thanks Buffalo Boy. I "enjoy" finding your marked coins sometimes as well.

Steven

You got some really good boxes last time. A full roll of silver halves with a 4 silver per box average from your 5 half boxes and another nice condition clear date buffalo from your nickel box is good hunting. Seems like we both had a good start this month. And we have pretty similar totals so far this year. I've found 6 silver nickels & 3 no date buffalos and 8 x 90% (oldest '45 Walker) & 33 x 40% halves. But I have a feeling my half boxes are going to start producing fewer keepers soon.

Good luck with your boxes the rest of the month. Hope we can both finish the month as good as we started.
