On the lower photo I see what looks to be one half of a hinge.It's on the upper left edge.I'm guessing there was a lid on a container.Maybe it held a cosmetic substance? Check the price of silver,it's very high now!

you know i never noticed that. i have had it a while. you are right about silver. i buy my kids silver rounds and bars and the proof sets , walking lib, dollars to save for when they get older :) i enjoy looking at them but i llike digging coins then buying them anytime :). i have not bought no silver for a while but hope it gos down :-\ prop will. thanks for the reply :)

In theory, it could be on the face of something, such as a cane, if it was a status item, particulary when there's what's possibly a logo. Like a contemporary Gucci item, if you will. :)

On the other hand, the lack of lip and the hinges suggests it was the bottom, or female side, of something.
