Crossed one off of my wish list this morning. I was able to get out for the first time in a couple of weeks and hunted an inner city playground I'd had my eye on. Not much more than dandelions and dirt, with a whole lot of trash mixed in, but it has been there since the 1900s so I was hoping it held something old. I spent the first few hours digging modern pennies, dimes and an occasional quarter and then I picked up a nice silver band under some trees. First silver of the year, yahoo!. I was working my way back to the car and running my coil along side the sidewalk when I picked up a strong quarter signal. I was expecting another piece of clad, but pulled this lovely silver thimble. I was surprised by the weight of it (5.5 grams) and it was tarnished to a deep grey so I wasn't sure it was silver till I got to the car and saw the "Sterling" on it. The makers mark is also there, but no luck so far finding out who it is.
