I got in two short hunts the last two evenings at our barber site. Things are slowing down but, there's still more.
First evening it was a few wheats and another big copper.
Second hunt this evening it was a single flat button and a first for me, srerling silver baby rattle.
When I first saw it laying in the hole I thought I had a aluminum or silver bell. It was laying almost straight up and when I went to pull it out it wouldn't come. Had to loosen the dirt up around it a little then when I pulled it out I heard it rattle. Still wasn't sure if it was silver but, hearing it rattle sure got my hopes up. A little clean up and better lighting at home, it was almost dark when I found it. It's marked sterling on both ends and has maker marks. I'll take this over another barber any day.

That is an awesome find! I love the copper as well but that rattle is killer. I can almost hear what it sounds like. Congrats!

Congratulations on the nice finds! :occasion14:

That's such a cool find! Way to go Steve!

I like the cool old holed LC...

But the sterling rattle is an exceptional find sir. Very well done.

That really is some nice finds!

Those other marks might just be a jeweler's mark but, they also might be date codes. I'd do a bit of research.

WTG!

That rattle is awesome - never seen one posted before. Congrats!

Sweet rattle Figure out the hall marks yet?

that is an awesome site you have there, what a wonderful find

Really nice save on the sterling rattle.
Not a very common item,, congratulations.

I never realized they made baby rattles of silver until I saw one posted on T-net and that one wasn't found dirtdigging.
I'm really excited over finding this one.

We think we might have it as R Blackington & Co. Still doing some more research, would love to get a time period also.

Thanks!! I never found a drilled old copper before then find 3 at this site?
Just about all my silver finds are either coins or jewelry except a few spoons, a fork and a sterling top. I don't find much other silvers so was really excited about this for that reason alone, then to be something cool like this. I'm loving it.
It weighed in at 22.3 grams.

That's why I mentioned the date codes. There are some stamps that represent the actual date. Plenty of info out there. I don't know if these markings have anything to do with the dates but worth checking.
