sterling ring,need help with makers mark

I found this ring today.
It's stamped sterling below the makers mark. Anyone know this mark ?
The sides of the ring have a shield with two swards,one on each side and an eagle on top.
This is about the best pic's I can get.

In what State and area did you find this ring? It could be an antique military and/or academy ring. You can search the various academies in your area to see what types of rings were worn years ago. Breezie

Hi Breeze. I found the ring in Rochester,Minn.along the creek. There used to be a small dam and swimming hole there years ago. This ring is similar in style as the one tazz1 posted. I would guess it had a black stone at one time and the black stuff on this ring might be a type of glue or stone. I picked at it and it is solid and nothing can be removed.
