I found this sterling silver pin a couple of inches under a brick in an old brick sidewalk. The sidewalk looks old so I'm guessing that this pin has to have some age to it as well.

Could this be a military bar pin? There are no designs or anything on it other than the "Sterling" stamp on the back. Any ID or guesses to age range would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking!

Definately a lieutenant bar. If there's a goldfish hue to it, then it's a second lieutenant, otherwise (silver) first Lt. (it's hard to tell on my monitor with the glare in the picture)

I totally agree with nhbenz. Also could be Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade, or as they are called, JG. Very definitely military.

Sweet! I thought it had to be military. I don't see any gold hue to it, appears to be standard sterling color. I guess there really isn't a way to age this is there? Maybe clasp type?
