It was cloudy and cold yesterday perfect for a hunt. This time I tried something different hitting the same area I've been fishing for over a year. Lately it's been harder and harder to find anything, but trying a different technique (headphones) has opened up this area to new discoveries. In the first five min I hit a nice high tone and dug up a ring. Once at home I found out it was made of brass or possible copper. Well, like my buddy said," it's still a ring!" Lol

Feeling the itch today, I make an excuse to go to the store and detour to the spot again...

Wouldn't you know it, 15 mins into the hunt and another ring! I have to say, using the headphones has given me a new found feeling for this place. More goodies and my best find walking back to the car a sterling US Combat Infantry badge. It's still here you got to love this place. Enjoy the pics

Thats unique.
Ya got yourself a Coastal Defense lapel disc, a CIB, and a 29th Signal Battalion unit crest all in one outing.

Cool.

Wow those rings look old. Sweet finds!
Are you sure that one ring isn't gold? It sure looks it from the pictures.

I think your site used to be a museum which burned down leaving you all those goodies underground! :hello2: Just kidding! :laughing7:

:notworthy: You're constantly surprising us all with more great finds!:notworthy: Congrats! :notworthy: Andi

Nice group. Any ring is a good find, and those are great. I wouldn't detect without a good set of phones!! Tony

Very nice grouping of finds the ring has the eagle on its side which makes it a very nice find.

I agree with Fix. There was a much higher copper content in old gold. I would definitely get it tested. Great finds.

Thanks guys... This place keeps giving. It's a unique place to find a wide range of old stuff with much of it dated. I call this our Plan B when we don't get to go to far away places, lol. My buddy and I been hunting this spot for a while. It gets old but I tell you what, it gives silver about 80% of the time. I lost count on how many mercury and barber dimes I've found here and not to mention all the buffalo nickels.

There was a time that we would walk upon a coin just sitting on top. Military buttons was also very common but now, you really have to work the dirt to find anything. There's a lot of stuff we don't post or collect that's left behind, such tons of silver plated spoons, forks, broken pocket watches, vintage lighters and broken marbles. I think between myself and car91rs we have accumulated hundreds of vintage and clay marbles together.

I do miss those days where you would stumble upon a coin or two without MD, lol. As for the ring, I did not find any markings inside the ring but it sure looks like brass or copper. I'll have to buy an acid test kit. The other one which has the eagle on the sides cleaned up pretty good, better then most of my silver rings. I'm hoping its white gold but can't tell because it's broken where the makers mark would be. I'll follow up on this post when I find out. And thanks for all the comments and enjoying the pics...

What was going on there back in the day ? - with all the silver it's hard to think of it as a dump site . Is the rifle badge WWI ?
I'm really amazed at what I've seen you pull out of there . Great Finds !!!
