Hello trdking. Thanks of the quick reply, nice ID...WE are correct.

Now I am wondering how old it is...PAM AM began in 1927.

Good Luck out there. C9

A little on the company L.G. Balfour Co. that made that piece. They made many WW2 era military pins aslo. They were all beautifully crafted pins made of precious metals not like the plated pot metal and plastic pins of today. I believe I have an old sterling L.G.B. pin somewhere. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/L.G._Balfour_Company

Your welcome C9. One of the most enjoyable parts of this site and the artifacts people find is they can lead one down a path of some interesting facts and stories, you never heard before. I don't do any metal detecting, but enjoy hunting surface finds and casing any place that sells 2nd hand items. Some things aren't worth all that much, but the stories they can tell I find very enjoyable. The folks on this site have assisted me in cracking open some of the stories and information about the thing I've come across from old photos my dad took during his time in Korea to artifacts my granddad brought back from his time in France during WWI and so much more. I guess that's why treasurenet is one of my favorite places to go almost every day.

I didn't find definitive info on the logo, but I can see from aircraft pictures that Pan Am had removed the wing from the globe by 1959. So I'll guess your pin is 30's or 40's.

These guys will know:
