It's been way to hot to detect so I went over some things I found earlier this spring. I almost tossed this away thinking it was a washed of some sort but today, being bored , I put a little naval jelly. It was definitely gold gilted. It had something in the center which apparently rusted away. Around the rim is "Stephen A Douglas 1860". I know it's hard to see. On the reverse is "Hershel V Johnson 1860". Found at a plantation site, south Louisiana where I have found union civil war relics. Any info appreciated.
