Dug this recently and have no clue what it purposed, other than a wheel or castor of some sort. Most small industrial wheels for carts that I have seen a solid constructed and not hollow. It appears that this hollowed wheel is secured on both sides by some forged pins that may have been mushroomed to secure it all together. The center hole goes straight through bu looks like it may have had a fixed tube or rod at that point. If it is not a wheel for a cart or skate, then what could it be....any guesses ? It was found at a very diverse history site. There has been horse tack, musket and pistol balls and model T parts found near here.

Nice finds.

No slits or slots....just a few rusted through spots. It doesn't look like it was supposed to come apart as far as I can tell. I know that would make it a wheel, so maybe that is the answer.:tongue3:

It reminds me alot of the old-school conveyor rollers .. like those they use to use to unload trucks.

Looks more like a roller or pulley than a wheel to me. Like an idler pulley from a mower or bandsaw.

What is interesting is the six (6) areas around the center. Could have maybe had prongs at one time ? If so, could have been turned upside down and the prongs inserted into another object and this operated as a type of hand winder ? Like ARC said, it does look familiar.
