I have a steel shank in my waders and it doesn't bother the Excal. However during warmer weather when I wade I wear fishing wading shoes which have brass nails and this sets off the Excal if I get the coil near the foot on my sweeps. It is a little chirp, enough to get you to go on point to see where the tiny sound came from. I extended the shaft some an this took care of it.

Thanks Brian. Do all Lacrosse have Fiberglass shanks? I was looking at the 18 inch boots.

I don't think so Steve....I think that a few in their line have steel shanks....they usually say in the description of each boot.
